My Journey
I was born and raised in New Delhi, and I started cooking in my teens alongside my mom, picking up Punjabi family recipes and her signature style of using practical kitchen "shortcuts". When I moved to California more than two decades ago, I blended those flavors and easy-cooking style over into my Delhi-meets-California kitchen - keeping the flavors authentic while making the process simpler and weeknight-friendly.
In 2017, I started Spice Cravings as an online recipe journal for my kids. What began as a family project has since grown into a resource that millions of readers rely on for modern Indian cooking.
A prediabetes diagnosis pushed me to figure out how to keep eating the food I love while being more mindful about carbs and protein - which is how the keto, low-carb, and high-protein collections on this site were born. I'm not a medical professional, but I cook from real experience using real ingredients.

Fun Facts About Me
- I live in California with my husband and twin daughters-my biggest cheerleaders and most honest critics.
- When I'm not cooking, I'm usually planning travel or unwinding with a rom-com, watching Friends reruns, with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
- My forever favorite thing in the kitchen is my "masala dabba" (spice box)-because the right combination of spices can make the simplest meal unforgettable.
