Welcome to Spice Cravings!
I'm Aneesha Gupta, and I founded this Indian & Fusion kitchen in 2017 to share recipes that blend my North Indian Punjabi roots with California-style cooking - authentic flavors using modern cooking methods.
I'm grateful that what started as a personal recipe journal has grown into a trusted resource visited by millions of readers worldwide - home cooks who want authentic Indian and fusion food made easy and fast!
Our Mission
- Bring authentic Indian and fusion flavor to your kitchen - simplified for everyday weeknights, without sacrificing the bold flavors that make these recipes worth making.
- Remove the guesswork - clear substitutions, modern cooking techniques, and step-by-step guidance for cooks at every level.
- Celebrate the full range of North Indian cooking - from everyday Punjabi home cooking and Delhi street food to Mughlai classics and original California-inspired Indian fusion.
- Earn trust before it reaches your table - each recipe is tested at least three times and family-approved before it's published.
What You'll Find on Spice Cravings
These recipe collections sit at the heart of this site - each one built from real experience in a real kitchen. Everything else flows from them. So, whether you're brand new to cooking or have been around for a while, I'm confident you'll find a recipe you love. What you can expect here:
- Instant Pot Indian Recipes: The largest collection on Spice Cravings - over 170 Indian recipes adapted for the Instant Pot. Everyday dal to Punjabi classics like rajma, chole, and mutton curry. If you own an Instant Pot and want to cook real Indian food with it, this is where to start.
- Indian Fusion Recipes: Original recipes that bring Indian ingredients into unexpected places - rasmalai tiramisu and mango-pistachio cheesecake to chana masala tacos, and Paneer Tikka Pizza. Developed in Aneesha's own kitchen. You won't find them anywhere else!
- Keto & Low-Carb Indian & Global Recipes: After a prediabetes diagnosis, I had to figure out how to keep enjoying the food I love while being more mindful about carbs. What came out of that is this collection. Popular recipes include Keto roti, sugar-free Kalakand, almond flour flatbreads, and a range of low-carb cocktails. I'm not a medical professional, and these aren't one-size-fits-all recipes, but they were developed out of real necessity and taste like the real thing.
- High-Protein Recipes - a growing collection built on the same thinking as the keto recipes: full Indian and California-inspired flavors, with protein at the center. Paneer, lentils, chicken, salmon - made to keep you satisfied without giving up the food you love.
- Global Favorites, Spice Cravings Style - weeknight-friendly 30-minute meals beyond Indian cuisine. Moroccan chickpea soup, Thai-inspired curries, Mediterranean & Middle Eastern flavors, Pasta favorites, and Mexican/Tex-Mex classics-all made approachable without losing their character.
- Diet-friendly: You'll also find a variety of gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian recipes throughout the collection.
Why Home Cooks Worldwide Trust Spice Cravings
- Tested 3 times, family-approved - No recipe goes live until it has been tested at least three times in my home kitchen - not by a test kitchen team, not by an algorithm, but by me and my three very honest critics - my twin daughters and hubby. If it doesn't make the dinner table, it doesn't make the blog.
- Authentic flavor, modern method - Recipes rooted in North Indian Punjabi tradition, designed for a modern kitchen.
- Honest substitutions, always - Every Indian recipe includes specific notes on where to find harder ingredients - and what to use when you can't.
- Cooking for everyone - Whether you grew up eating Indian food or you're making dal for the first time, the recipes here are written to work. Step-by-step instructions, photos, and videos throughout.
- Traditional Recipes Simplified: Precise measurements, step-by-step photos, and modern technique so you get consistent results every time. Browse through a wide variety of Instant Pot, Air Fryer, and Stovetop recipes.

The Story Behind My Delhi Meets California Kitchen
I was born and raised in a Punjabi home in New Delhi - India's capital, and a city where food is practically a religion. My palate was shaped by four very different tables growing up.
- At home, it was my mother's Punjabi cooking: soul-soothing rajma chawal, gajar ka halwa, dals and sabzis built on practical techniques she'd never written down and never needed to. My mum showed me early that good food doesn't have to mean hours at the stove!
- On the streets, it was Delhi's legendary chaat culture - golgappe (pani puri), samosa chaat, chole bhature from vendors who'd been making the same recipe for decades.
- In the restaurants, it was the Mughlai tradition: tikkas, seekh kebabs, rich kormas, and kathi rolls.
- World travel exposed me to spices and flavors that felt familiar yet unique. Together, all four made it impossible not to become a serious food lover.
In 2017, I started Spice Cravings - first as a recipe journal for my kids, then as something much bigger - a place to share authentic Indian and fusion recipes that bring real flavor to the table without demanding hours from your day. I'm grateful that millions of readers visit my site and trust my recipes for their dinner table.

Frequently Asked Questions
Of course! When a recipe calls for a fresh chili (like a jalapeno), removing the veins and seeds is the best way to reduce the heat. Reduce the quantity in half for spice powders and work your way up from there.
I mention a source for the hard-to-find ingredients within the recipe in the Ingredient notes section. If you're having trouble finding an ingredient, comment on that specific recipe, and I'll reply with a solution. You can also visit my Amazon storefront for quick links to some of my products.
