Almost everyone I know loves garlic bread and for good reasons! Well, first and foremost, it's delicious. Second, it is so easy to make. My girls love making this for a quick snack when their friends come over.
Usually, garlic bread is made in the oven pretty easily, but I decided to make it even easier - using the air fryer!
This air fryer garlic bread recipe is ridiculously easy to make and is ready in 15 minutes. It's cheesy, garlicky, soft, buttery, and everything you could want in a garlic bread recipe.

Ingredients-Notes & Substitutions
This easy garlic bread recipe requires just 6 ingredients you probably already have in your fridge or pantry.

- Unsalted Butter: softened to room temperature to be easily whisked into a garlic butter sauce.
- Minced Garlic: I highly recommend freshly minced garlic for the best flavor. Use a garlic press or follow any of these methods for minced garlic.
- Grated Parmesan Cheese: add as much or as little as you like. I prefer to buy and grate a block but feel free to use a store-bought pre-shredded shortcut.
- Herbs: I always have dried basil on hand, so I use that. You can also use finely chopped fresh basil instead. I combine that with a couple of tablespoons of fresh parsley. Alternatively, use 1½ teaspoon dried parsley.
- Baguette: sliced into ½-inch thick slices. I used only half a loaf for this recipe, which gives me roughly 10 slices.

What Bread to Use for Garlic Bread
I use a French baguette because its long and thin shape makes perfectly sized slices. It also has a chewier crust which becomes nice and crispy in the air fryer. Another benefit is that it gives a more balanced bread-to-garlic butter ratio. If you prefer a texture similar to Texas toast, use a French loaf instead.
Texture Tip: use fresh bread for a softer texture or day-old bread for a crispier, chewier finish.
How to Make Garlic Bread in the Air Fryer
In about 15 minutes, you can have the perfect slice of baked garlic bread to serve with your meal. Here's how to make the best air-fried garlic bread:
- Cut the baguette into ½-inch thick slices.

- Combine the softened butter with minced garlic, parmesan cheese, parsley, and dried basil.

- Generously spread the mixture onto baguette slices.

- Place the garlic bread in a single layer in the air fryer basket, then air fry at 350ºF for 3-4 minutes for a softer texture or 5 minutes for golden crisp edges.

Alternate Method - Oven-Baked Garlic Bread
If you don't have an air fryer, you can easily make this garlic bread recipe in the oven. Here's how:
- Prepare the garlic butter and bread as per instructions.
- Lay the slices on a baking sheet. Be sure to leave a ½-inch gap between slices.
- Bake at 350ºF for 10-15 minutes or until the bread is crisped to your liking.

Serving Suggestions
I recommend serving air-fried garlic bread right away for the best texture. You can save time by prepping it ahead, then air-frying right before you're ready to enjoy it.
Garlic bread is a super versatile side dish. Serve it as an appetizer, or alongside soups, pastas, you name it. Here are a few of my favorite dishes to serve with garlic bread:
Variation: Make it Vegan
Vegan Air Fryer Garlic Bread: you can easily make this recipe vegan-friendly by swapping the butter for your favorite vegan butter, or olive oil.
How to Store & Freeze
Leftover garlic bread will last in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. To reheat, air fry at 350ºF for 2-3 minutes.
To freeze: Place it in a single layer on a baking sheet and flash freeze until hardened. Once frozen, transfer to an airtight container and store in the freezer for up to 6 months.
To reheat, air fry at 340ºF for 5-7 minutes or until heated.
Recipe Tips & Notes
- Use real butter for the best flavor. Margarine doesn't have quite the same taste.
- Use freshly minced garlic for a stronger garlicky flavor (my preference) or garlic powder for a milder flavor.
- If you like an even cheesier bread, top it with shredded mozzarella, extra parmesan, or both.
- Make sure you lay the garlic bread in a single layer in the air fryer basket so the air has space to circulate. That way it will get crispy all the way around.
- Air fry for 3-4 minutes for a softer texture or 5 minutes for a golden crisp garlic bread. When making this for the first time, start with less time and add more as needed.
- Cool for 5 minutes, then serve right away for the best texture. Garlic bread that sits too long will start to harden.
